We like to think of ISL as “a sacred space for growing”. Over the 30 years of the Institute’s life, we have come to know that the “sacred space” that is ISL exists not in our bricks and mortar. It exists in the sacred place within in each individual, and in the relationships and interactions between and among ISL staff, program participants, and friends.

It is in this spirit that we are pleased to welcome you and to invite you to experience ISL through these web pages. It is our hope that you will find here the companions and resources you need to continue your own spiritual growth as part of an international community marked by compassion, trust and encouragement. We believe that ISL’s commitment to fostering personal spiritual growth and transformation in individuals and assisting them to also learn skills to foster such growth in others, points the way to a more just and humane world. One of the ways we do this is by providing training in spiritual direction, offering both part-time and full-time programs.
