Institute of Pastoral Studies


The Institute of Pastoral Studies, a unit of the Graduate School of Loyola University Chicago, educates adults for ministry.  Its location within the university provides a rich environment for ministerial education.  Contact IPS directly for admission requirements and information regarding the master’s degree in Pastoral Studies or in Spirituality:  IPS, Lewis Towers, 820 N. Master of Arts in Spirituality
ISL participants who qualify with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent may receive advanced standing status toward the Master of Arts in Spirituality degree offered through Loyola’s Institute of Pastoral Studies.  The advanced standing credit granted for successful completion of the ISL Weekday program is equivalent of 18 credits.  The advanced standing credit granted for the successful completion of the ISL Weekend program is equivalent of 12 credits.  The spiritual direction track of the M.A. in Spirituality degree is 36 total credit hours.

Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies
ISL participants who qualify with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent may receive advanced standing status toward the Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies degree offered through Loyola’s Institute of Pastoral Studies.  The advanced standing granted for successful completion of the ISL program is the equivalent of 12 credits.  The M.P.S. degree is 30 total credit hours.
